Debunking The Myth About Detoxification

Recently, I've encountered an article from The Guardian that was entitled:
"YOU CAN'T DETOX YOUR BODY. IT'S A MYTH. SO HOW DO YOU GET HEALTHY?"
The article went on stating that:
"...detoxing - the idea that you can flush your system of impurities and leave your organs squeaky clean and raring to go - is a scam. It's a pseudo-medical concept designed to sell you things."
So is this true? Although many scientists and medical professionals are doing evidence based research, they are just taking into account their personal opinion but of course that is not the whole picture.

What we see today, they don't see!

What Are Toxins? Will Toxins Accumulate?

Toxins are substances that actually interrupt with our body physiological processes. They can be found externally (outside your body) or created internally (inside your body).

Today we live in the world filled with toxins, from food, air & water, household cleaners, electronic devices, etc. Not only that, but also toxic free radicals which are formed in our body. Stress hormones, emotional disturbances, anxiety and negative emotions all create free radicals as well. Therefore, living without toxic buildup is virtually impossible, which is why our body has built in mechanisms to deal with toxic overload. Crying, sweating, urination and defecation are all natural protocols employed by the body to rid itself of toxins.

Because toxins are part of out daily life, both inside and out, it may seem that they are a natural part of living and that additional measures to deal with them are unnecessary. This, in part, is true. Free radical exposure is part of life, however, with our poor diet and lifestyle, overabundance of chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, etc. in our food and environment, and the increasing levels of stress in our society, our body is overwhelmed with toxic buildup and needs additional help in expelling unnecessary waste material.

You may wonder: Why aren't we all sick or in need of serious medical interventions, given this incredible load of toxins? The answer is simple. It is because each of us is genetically and biochemically unique. Some of us are good at getting rid of toxins and waste, and others are not.

Total load is the total amount of stressors on your system at any one time - it's like what happens when a glass fills over with water. It takes a certain amount of water to fill the glass and then, after a certain point, you put more in and it overflows.

When our detoxification system is overwhelmed, it gets overloaded. That's when we start developing symptoms and getting sick, but it may take years of accumulated stress and toxins to get to that point.
